What we do...

Valley Mission Food Pantry
Food Deliveries weekly -
Each Wednesday, between 8:15 and Noon, and Thursday at 10 am, we receive 3 different deliveries of food from local grocers and the Idaho Foodbank. We unload, sort, cull and stock everything from canned/boxed goods to fresh produce and everything in between.
Service opportunities:
  • Unloading does involve lifting heavy boxes! Sometimes up to 50 pounds or more so keep that in mind when heading in to volunteer.
  • Sorting of food includes produce, baked goods and frozen meats/meals. When available we also re-package eggs.
  • General cleaning, sanitizing as we go. We try to think of food safety first and foremost. As we work through the day we take care to be safe with our work surfaces. This involves some work with bleach and other cleaners that are food safe.

Food Distribution -
Open each Thursday from 3:30 pm until 6:00 pm, the pantry offers the guest a variety of food options each week. We offer a modified Client Choice, which is another way of saying you pick what you know you and your family will eat. The guest shops different sections - bakery treats, breads, produce, and more - and has the option of taking items or not, depending on their families needs, desires, dietary needs, etc.
Service Opportunities:
  • Assisting with carrying out of food boxes. THESE CAN BE HEAVY, so please consider this before saying yes.
  • Assisting guests with 'shopping' on the floor. We post volunteers at different stations in order to guide them through the floor. Great way to connect with folks.

Life Coaching COMING IN 2025/2026!!!
As we move into a more intensive service model for our guests in the community we know that giving them a hand isn't just a one-time offering. For new habits and practices to take hold, many times you need someone to come alongside you and walk with  you through those times. Life Coaches are people how have experience in a variety of life lessons and are willing to teach what they learned to those we are working to assist. Skills such as managing money, how to grocery shop successfully, job and career skills, parenting skills, addiction recovery, and so much more are always in need. If you are intersted in assisting in an area like this, please complete the sign up to serve form on the link below and we'll put you in touch with our team. The best way to impact a community is to have the community in touch!
